A new year brings a focus on the past and future! How did we see God at work in 2008? How will we meet God in 2009? This year, there seems to be more anxiety around the future than in year's past. So we think the best way to start 2009 is going back to the basics of our faith! Communion calls us to remember the work of Jesus on our behalf and on behalf of a hurting world. As we observe communion, we celebrate all God is doing through Jesus and identify with Jesus through faith. Foot washing, which may be new to some, recognizes the call of Jesus for His people to be servants of all.
Loving God and our neighbors as ourselves and serving others after the way of Jesus are excellent goals for 2009! There will be many opportunities to give and receive love, support and care in the upcoming year! Let's prepare to be Jesus' people!
